Time for a Social Media Makeover

social media makeover

Spring is here and it’s a great time to give your business’s social media profiles a fresh new look. Often, we don’t take the time to assess what is working well in our social media arsenal and what can use an overhaul. Read on to learn about ways to freshen up your presence online.

Coordinating Looks

Over time, you’ve probably added social media profiles to your collection. Often, people will muss with the layout once and then never think about it again. Give all of your profiles a going over to make sure you have consistent logos, colors, fonts and general styles between all of them. Make sure that all of the URLs, phone numbers and other contact details are up to date and that all your linking buttons work. This helps define your brand, making your outlets more instantly recognizable.

Shed Extra Pounds

Have you tried out a platform and later decided that it wasn’t a good fit for your brand? Or, have you made multiple profiles to try different tactics? Instead of leaving those abandoned profiles hanging out there in space, you may want to delete them for a cleaner online presence. If you feel that your presence on a site could be beneficial, but that you don’t have the time or the talent for it, consider hiring professional content writers to do the job instead.

Whatever you do, don’t leave ailing profiles to languish. Abandoned profiles can make it look like you are neglecting your business and your customers. When people see only old updates and no answers when people try to reach out online, they can even think that your business is no longer active.

Just a Trim

Go over profiles and updates and make sure that all links to offsite content are still good. The web is an ephemeral place, and you may find that content that you linked to from your Facebook page or Twitter no longer exists. Update links where you can and delete or edit posts where it’s not possible.

Update Your Style

While you are going over profiles, decide whether they reflect your business right now. You may find, for instance, that your social media posts are a little stiff or that they do not reflect your organization’s current focus. Consider bringing in professional content writers to create compelling profile and “about us” pages and intriguing, shareable updates.

One of the best things about doing business online is how easy it is to shift directions to point your online presence where you need to go. Take inventory of your social media collection now, find what fits, what doesn’t and make it work!
