Kevin received a doctorate in education from National Louis University located in Chicago/Skokie Illinois. In addition to writing the dissertation, the program required extensive writing and presentation in each of the classes and seminars. Kevin was recognized by National Louis University as one of 30 alumni over the age of 30 for the work he is doing in his field. He was cited for work in which he has been involved in Broward County Florida and nationwide regarding equity and equality for students and teachers who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning (LGBTQ).

Kevin was principal of Maplewood School in Cary IL. The school was recognized by Chicago Magazine as one of the top five elementary schools in Chicago suburban area.

Founding Member: Stonewall National Education Project (SNEP) Mar 2012
Kevin is a founding member of the Stonewall National Education Project (SNEP). SNEP has provided advocacy, networking and training for educators in national and Florida School Districts. Kevin is working with SNEP to plan the third annual conference in May 2015 with a projected 200 attendees representing 75 school districts from across the country. The focus of SNEP is to develop policy, curriculum and education regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning students, staff, parents and their allies in K-12 Schools.

Director and District Liaison: Midwest Principal Center Sep 1989
Kevin was the district representative and on the board of directors for Midwest Principal Center, on organization of over 400 school administrators in the Chicagoland and southern Wisconsin areas. Kevin developed programming for the organization and served as a liaison coach for 75 principals in the McHenry and Kane county regions.

Principal Mentor, Coach, Trainer: National Association of Elementary School Principals Sep 1986
Kevin is currently part of a team of mentor coaches in the NAESP organization. He has been involved since 2005. He conducts trainings with experienced principals who are learning to be mentors. He has helped to revise the curriculum and to provide ongoing personal and online training for principals. He meets regularly with others on the national team to refine the skills that can be presented to those in the mentoring classes. Kevin has written curriculum and provided written feedback to those principals in the groups that he coaches.

Kevin has been a member and conference presenter for NSDC. He was offered presentation on coaching and peer mentoring as well as in the areas of language arts, mathematics and leadership.

Kevin has published a dissertation and thesis that focused on aspect of curricular and childhood learning development.
He has written resource guide, journal and blog articles for district publications, Principal Magazine and National Louis University Alumni Magazine.


Kevin wrote entries for a publication called Nurturing News in the mid 1980's. One entry was entitled "Nurturing: A Bond Through the Generations"

Kevin is currently involved in work regarding the increasing levels of incidence of HIV/AIDS among a13-20 year olds.
In that regard, Kevin and others on the team are working to find the most helpful resources as well as to create information that will assist students, teachers and parents to find the help and assistance they need.

Kevin wrote an article for Principal Magazine, published in 2011. The article was entitled "No Substitute Left Behind" and conveyed what a principal can do to help to make the work of substitute teachers more effective. This article also provided the framework for presentations given at national and regional principal meetings.

Kevin works as an observer in Kindergarten through second grade classrooms. He notes the instances in which students are keeping themselves from the task at hand or influencing others to stray from the task at hand. Each month, Kevin provides the teachers in those classrooms with ideas that will help them with classroom management, instruction and other aspects of their career.

Large Business

Kevin was one of eight researchers, editors and authors of "Broward County Public Schools Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Critical Support Guide." This guide is now undergoing its third revision.
