Able to retire early, he started his own consulting firm focusing on and writing about how businesses could better protect themselves from fraud, and how to prepare for the unexpected event. He also worked with a computer fraud detection company, and wrote a white paper for them entitled "Disaster Recovery Planning" which they published on their website. During that same period of time, he worked with the F.B.I. tracking down computer hackers who were attempting to prey on various merchants.
