Honors and Awards
Outstanding Service Provider Barbara was awarded the Outstanding Service Provider Award for her work with child care professionals in training and development. She assisted more than 100 women in achieving a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

Outstanding Journalism Award Barbara was the recipient of the Macon Telegraph and News' Outstanding Journalism Award in 1973. This award is given to a graduating senior, along with a scholarship, for exceptional? work as a student journalist.

Association Memberships
NAEYC Barbara has been an active member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children since 1993. Her service to the organization includes many years as a board member at state and local levels. She chaired numerous committees including the statewide early childhood conference in 1997 for Kansas early childhood professionals. Facilitating a national study group that met in Wichita, and was connected virtually with other sites throughout the nation, was among her many training contributions. Establishing a local chapter of NAEYC in an underserved area of Kansas was a favorite project. She has presented at numerous conferences. Barbara was editor of the monthly SEK-NAEYC newsletter for five years and also contributed to the state KAEYC newsletter.
As a board member of the NVEAYC group in Virginia, she promoted membership opportunities. ?

For thirteen years, Barbara wrote and published a newsletter for early childhood educators. She has contributed articles to state and national early childhood publications. Most recently, Barbara has been writing educational blogs for a variety of companies. Barbara has more than 30 years experience in education.
Her classroom experience includes full-time instruction in second through fifth grades and at the college level. Barbara served as an adjunct faculty member at a community college where she taught early childhood development and curriculum. She also developed and taught online classes at the college level.
