While finishing his studies in Linguistics, Alvaro started working as an Assistant at his University's Translation Center for more than two years. In this workplace, he translated hundreds of documents for different types of legal procedures and academic writings. For obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree he translated a +160000 words book about architecture and civil engineering from French into Spanish. He also did a Certification Program in English<>Spanish Translation which lasted 7 months. He has also taken several courses and workshops to improve his language abilities. Since June 2015, he started working as a freelancer. This year, he plans to specialize in Website Localization, for which he already took an Introductory Course in January and some free online website development courses.

Alvaro started learning English from a very early age. After finishing high school, he started self-teaching the language through various media: songs, movies, reading. Then he began studying Linguistics, where he polished his knowledge through different subjects for five years. From the moment he started working as a Translation Assistant to the very end, he translated thousands and thousands of words from English <>Spanish. During the Certification Program he translated more than 8500 words in different fields such as Business, Technical and Tourism. As a freelancer, he has done some small work translating news, parts of a film and some marketing.

French (EU) to Spanish (South America)

Alvaro has worked with French in a few projects. Specially in the Automotive Sector, Architecture and Civil Engineering. And others in the academic fields, with some experience in the cosmetics area.

A 4000-words project Alvaro worked in about tests hammers. It was a usage manual with very complicated and specific vocabulary, in a PDF format which made it a little bit harder.

For a translation test, Alvaro was required to translate this non-scripted commentary from English to Spanish. It was an interview to a filmmaker. It had a colloquial language and some idiomatic expressions.
