Michael earned his bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in English from The Ohio State University in June of 1996.
Michael is a senior columnist with ElevenWarriors.com, the web's leading Ohio State sports blog. He primarily covers OSU football and basketball with two weekly columns. Before joining ElevenWarriors.com, Michael spent five years as publications coordinator for the NHL's Florida Panthers. In that role, he wrote, edited and assisted with designing media guides, game programs, press releases and marketing materials. Previously, he was director of communications with the AHL's Albany River Rats and director of public relations with the WPHL's Amarillo Rattlers, where he handled similar writing responsibilities.
Michael was Director of Communications for the Florida College of Emergency Physicians from August 2004-March 2010. In that role, he wrote press releases and electronic newsletters and served as Managing Editor for EMpulse magazine, a bi-monthly membership publication. He also handled all copy editing, layout, budget, advertising sales, print bids and distribution logistics, and maintained and wrote content for the organization's web site. In addition, he designed, and wrote copy for miscellaneous corporate brochures and other materials.
Michael was Communications Specialist for The Newport Group from June 2011-February 2014, where he wrote and edited of all corporate communications for internal and external audiences. He also served as the firm's website editor and managed the company's social media sites.
