Esther is a Consultant for Morningstar Direct--a global investment analysis platform containing Morningstar's data and institutional research, private and third-party content, analytics, and reporting tools. She trains institutional clients on how to use Direct effectively by helping them incorporate the platform into their workflow. Leading up to this role, she wore multiple hats supporting a variety of other Morningstar products in a customer service position. She helped clients work through various technical issues as well as understand product functionality and financial concepts over the phone and over e-mail. Esther also spent a year working for the individual investor side as an assistant editor for morningstar.com. Her primary responsibilities included producing content and managing the personal finance content on the website. In all of her roles, Esther has had to become comfortable with "learning on the go" in order to become a quick expert on a variety of previously unfamiliar topics.

Esther specializes in a variety of writing styles whether narrative, persuasive, or expository. She has written articles for her local newspaper, press releases and media relations articles in college, and has produced content for morningstar.com's personal finance section. Writing poetry and creative nonfiction is among her passions as well.

Interests

Esther's is a ravenous consumer of all things food-related and pores over well-written menus and recipes with as much zeal as she would any riveting piece of literature. Relationships (family, marriage, friendship, dating) are all pet topics of hers and she loves pursuing this topic in conversation and in life. She is an active member of her church and would jump at an opportunity to write about her faith. Music has also been a large part of her life since young. She plays the piano and cello and has recently picked up the guitar, drums, and the bass.

Carleton College

Esther graduated as an English major from Carleton College--a small, private liberal arts college in Northfield, Minnesota. She worked at the Carleton College Office of Media Relations for two years writing press releases for upcoming campus events and initiating ideas for feature articles regarding current student trends. She was also a founding editor for a campus interfaith publication called "Unashamed". Carleton's unique writing-across-the-curriculum philosophy requires students to submit a comprehensive portfolio of essays in a variety of disciplines for evaluation. Esther received an "exemplary" rating for her portfolio. Her most memorable months of her college career were spent studying abroad--a semester studying British Literature and Theatre in London, and a semester studying Irish Literature in Ireland.
