Joan is strong in academic writing, persuasive or sales copy writing, and news articles or journalistic writing. She is competent at SEO. She is equally strong at researching a topic to write knowledgeably about it and writing about a topic that is already very familiar. She can be very sarcastic, so occasionally enjoys writing satire or similar humorous or creative pieces.
Joan loves to read as widely and deeply as possible. She also loves to write, of course. She loves tennis, whether playing it, watching it, coaching it, or writing about it. She loves science fiction and fantasy genres, whether manifested in books, television shows, or movies, and loves to discuss any and all of these in writing or with like-minded people when she gets the chance. She likes to keep up with environmental issues, believes in living as green as possible and loves to recycle or repurpose items whenever possible. She is also intrigued by the so-called small house movement and loves to research ways to live simpler and smaller.
Joan's degree program emphasized writing, but included a balance of literature courses, mainly in British and American literature of various literary periods. She did not complete the degree all at once but instead left and returned years later.
Joan took on the one year masters program so that she could take all of the knowledge gained with her English bachelor degree and learn how to teach it to middle or high school students. Courses were in pedagogy specifically related to language arts subject matter and generally related to the teaching profession.
Joan has worked in the hospitality industry for over 15 years, mainly in different types of event work and mainly as a bartender or server. Although she could tell some interesting stories after all these years, and considers herself to be very knowledgeable about her little corner of the hospitality world, she surprisingly hasn't written many pieces about this industry. She looks forward to rectifying that deficiency in the near future.
Joan is very familiar with the game of tennis, having played it for over 30 years, coached it for four years, and watched it both live and on television whenever she could. She has written a few pieces about different aspects of the game and continues to write about this sport whenever the opportunity arises.
Joan has done extensive ghostwriting about different types of degree programs (postsecondary), advantages and disadvantages of particular types of schools and of particular schools, what types of jobs could be expected with certain degrees. Many of these orders concentrated on the nursing or legal fields, with a few scattered items pertaining to other areas.
Joan has written articles on demand for a variety of platforms, mainly items that are ghostwritten for a flat fee and release of copyright. She is comfortable researching her topics to ensure adherence to her client's directions. She is equally comfortable asking for clarification as needed and writing about topics that she is very familiar and knowledgeable about.
I have worked for various content providers over the past two years, many of which have team projects from time to time for product descriptions, and at least one of which required certification in writing this specific type of copy prior to hiring me.
