In Shanna's early professional life, she was a banker, a bank manager, and a loan agent, which has given her insight into the worlds of finance, lending, banking, and real estate. She also worked in food service as a bartender while she put herself through university and then grad school, which has allowed her to write for clients in the restaurant and hospitality industries.
In college and grad school, Shanna worked in education and literature, building skills as a tutor and teacher and then as a writer and researcher. She went on to teach and tutor high school and college students and write admissions essays, personal statements, and bios for doctoral candidates, lawyers, accountants, and other applicants to advanced programs as well as business professionals seeking to improve their profiles.
For the last 5 years, she has worked as a freelance writer for individuals, businesses and marketing agencies across industries, including those mentioned above, as well as those related to self care, motherhood, travel, and lifestyle.
Shanna is a natural-born reader and writer. She has been reading books of all kinds for as long as she can remember, and today she enjoys reading across genres in both fiction and nonfiction. She has also been a storyteller since she was young, weaving tales that sprung from her imagination into her journals.
In her free time, Shanna spends time in the abundant nature near her home in the Pacific Northwest, hiking, camping, traveling, and swimming at local swimming holes with her family, and frequenting local wineries with her husband of 20 years.
She is a student of natural medicine, taking the time to grow her own herbs, make healing teas, and collect books on gardening and self-healing.
Shanna and her family are also huge fans of movies and music, heading to the theater regularly to see the latest Marvel or Disney movie or rocking out in their yard to Classic Rock or Spanish hip-hop.
Shanna started college late, after a successful career in banking and lending, and got right to work studying literature in English, Spanish, and French. She graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Major in English and a Minor in Spanish, all while tutoring students in both languages and in ACT and SAT prep.
Shanna went on to study literature in more depth, researching and investigating meaning, rhetoric, and language in English, Spanish, and French. She tutored at her local center, and graduated magna cum laude.
"Business" captures so much of what Shanna has written over her career as a freelance writer. She has written for financial advisors, for bankers, for realtors, for small business owners, for entrepreneurs, and more. The goal, always, is to capture the voice of the client and aim that voice in an appealing and welcoming way at a specific audience that will respond to the call to action. Shanna has honed her skills to meet that goal consistently for her clients.
Perhaps the largest body of Shanna's work over the past 5 years as a freelance writer has been for real estate agents and brokers. She has written every kind of real estate blog, web copy, email newsletter, and white paper you can imagine, which often includes lifestyle, travel, and self-care blogs that appeal to a specific clientele for a particular realtor. With a background in lending, Shanna has insight into real estate, and now with years of writing for realtors across the United States, she has become something of an expert.
Shanna has written articles and blogs that include recipes and changing and improving diet for physical health and mental health.
She has researched how food affects lifestyle and addressed various diets and their impact, including keto, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarianism, and veganism.
As a former banker and lender, Shanna has insight into writing for finance clients in the areas of financial advising, wealth management, banking, credit, and even cryptocurrency. She is able to deliver information on these topics in an interesting and engaging way that encourages the audience to complete the call to action. Her finance clients appreciate that Shanna can make this often boring-sounding information engaging and even fun.
Spirituality encompasses much of the blogging and web copy Shanna has written for her own website and for other clients speaking to audiences about alternative methods for healing, living, and loving themselves. She has written extensively about self-care, self-healing, crystals, herbs, gardening, yoga, meditation, and other areas that come into contact with a person's own spirituality.
Shanna has been writing about cannabis and all of its products, including hemp and CBD for several years. She has taken on individual writing projects for local clients and she has done her own research for personal reasons. She is situated in the center of a thriving hub of cannabis and CBD products in Southern Oregon.
Shanna's greatest strength lies in writing blogs that support and generate leads for a website. As a natural storyteller, she is able to research and write on topics across industries that engage the reader and speak directly to a niche audience. She also has the ability to channel the mission, vision, and values of her client's brand. This approach leads to more website visits, longer time spent on the site, and more clicks on the call to action. Meanwhile, the writing sounds fresh, unique, and natural rather than overtly aiming for a sale.
Shanna has developed an approach to generating a Brand Story for her clients that allows her to write the 5 basic web pages for a business' website - Home, About, Products, Services, and Contact Us. These 5 pages tell site visitors everything they need to know to "buy in" to the rband and feel like part of a culture or community. Shanna writes web copy that not only engages readers but also compels them to respond to the call to action. She has built a reputation as a web copywriter in demand who always delivers and always meets deadlines.
