Specialties are Al's Specialty! Meeting the varied requirements of marketing materials that need to be created for the wide variety of channels in today's marketplace is a skill unto itself, and Al excels at that in every way. He is able to adopt the "voice" of any business that has existing written materials, or can create a voice for those that don't.
Al's interests are varied, as is to be expected for a writer and editor who has pretty much done it all. A short film he wrote and produced has won awards at film festivals. His website constantly earns praise. The continuing education courses he's proofread for PhD-level mental health professionals are available online. And the print publications he's produced for clients in a full-charge capacity have brought accolades for his clients and for himself.
Al has promoted many banks and financial firms. His work includes full-charge editing and writing on what were called "magalogs" at the time, more commonly known as custom publishing, for Key Banks, essentially full-size in-branch magazines geared toward either business or private bank customers. He's also written websites for banks, and, perhaps most unusual of all, "wraps'" for the covers of Fortune Magazine!
While Al claims only one completed project, it is one that involves many webpages, blogs, emails and B2B mailers for a local advertising agency's self-promotion.
He is happy to report that the agency continues to pull in new business and retain its existing clientele as a result of his efforts.
The number "14" as projects completed is likely an underestimate, as Al has produced numerous webpages, emails, and self-mailers for two major solar power installers in Southern California.
He has created too many ads to count. His work appears in print, on websites and on video. He has designed and written entire websites, has been a full-charge writer and editor on custom publications (print magazines created for business clients) and has even written and produced an award-winning short film.
Al regularly write monthly blog posts for a local direct marketing agency, focusing on their awards, accomplishments, new offerings, and general industry updates that their clients and other readers will find interesting. These blog posts are also picked up (by Al) for their social media pages and receive "likes" due to the helpful information they present
Al has produced many, many landing pages and internal pages for a variety of companies. He understands and can use SEO tactics when writing these pages and can write so that the reader is encouraged to click through to other pages for more information and ultimately to contact his client by phone or email or via a built-in response mechanism.
Al has been involved in direct mail advertising for many years and understands the unique requirements of this most profitable medium. He can can create grabber envelope snipes that encourage recipients to open the piece, or headlines that will get them to turn it over in the case of postcards. He has even won awards for the effectiveness of pieces he has worked on.
Al studied Journalism in college and so has a leg up on other writers who think they can compose an effective Press Release simply because they have experience writing other types of communications. He understands proper formatting and what will interest a prospective newspaper, magazine, or broadcast media editor. He recently got a television news crew to attend a film shoot at a local airport and air the story on that evening's newscast.
