Kristy is a writer and magazine editor with more than 20 years of experience in communication, working with a variety of clients including Pregnancy, Origin, Jezebel, Boating World, Art & Antiques, Display and Design Ideas, Apparel Industry, and Creative Loafing, among others. She has written on a variety of topics including music, lifestyle, nonprofit, pregnancy, parenting, philanthropy, and health and wellness. She has provided writing and editing services for individuals, including a life coach contributing a book chapter to an anthology, a former Navy SEAL-turned-gemologist operating his own business, and a crisis response organization handling corporate reputation management and repair. She has also created and edited digital content for a life coaching website, and social media for an athletic events company partnering with a nationally-known beer company. Additionally, she has provided transcription services to a client in the medical products field. She operates a personal blog, where she writes about physical and mental health and well-being.

An enthusiastic food lover and aspiring home cook, she enjoys trying out recipes with a glass of wine in hand when time and circumstances allow. Her interest in wine led her to take a certification course with the Wine and Spirits Education Trust, where she earned a Level 2 Intermediate Certificate (along with a stylish, yet not entirely useful, lapel pin!).

As a child, she spent a lot of time reading authors like J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Shel Silverstein, Judith Viorst, Judy Blume, and Beverly Cleary. This profoundly influenced her love for language. Music did too, which helped her develop an ear and memory for lyrics, further deepening her appreciation for the written word. She's familiar with a wide range of musical styles and genres and has a special fondness for singer-songwriters, new folk, 70s soft rock, and old-school R&B.

Eighteen years ago her first son was born and was later diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (now known as Autism Spectrum Disorder). A few years later, her youngest son was born and was later found to have several learning disabilities, as well as a communication and anxiety disorder. She also has personal experience with eating disorders and social anxiety and enjoys learning about psychology and the brain.

Having her children led her to pursue something she'd always been curious about: photography. She has shot the images for several of her editorial pieces and has taken courses at the Austin School of Photography. She is most drawn to black and white, street and documentary style, and has an abiding love for the work of Sebastião Salgado.

Not long after her oldest son was born, she began studying A Course In Miracles, which expanded her interest in spirituality. To this day she is an ardent and curious seeker and has studied meditation with New York Times-award-winning author, speaker, and coach Gabrielle Bernstein. Deciding to broaden her exploration even more, she enrolled in an Usui Reiki school, where she completed a course for Level 1 Master Practitioner. This led her to contemplate a career in the healing arts, and finally to a Health Coach certification program through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which bolstered her knowledge in the area of integrative health and wellness. Sharing what she has learned is deeply rewarding for her.
