Lisa has extensive experience as a writer and communications executive working with companies in the food manufacturing, food retail, and foodservice sectors. As the communications director the Consumer Brands Association (formally Grocery Manufacturers of America), she served as a media spokesperson and wrote press releases, speeches, news articles, website content, and long-form feature stories covering the food and consumer products industry. As a freelance writer, she has worked with the National Restaurant Association, the Food Marketing Institute, the International Foodservice Distributors Association, and the International Fresh-cut Produce Association on a variety of copywriting, storytelling, and digital content projects.
Lisa began her career as a writer working for nonprofit industry trade associations in the Washington, DC area in the food and consumer goods sector. She was a media spokesperson, served as the in-house editor for an award-winning association magazine, and wrote congressional testimony and content for C-level executives and board members. As a freelance writer, Lisa has worked on a major website update for an international aid organization, including researching and writing all content for the site’s extensive wireframe. She has developed a 30-day social media campaign to drive interest in teen foster care for a DC-based nonprofit, and worked on a communications audit for a nonprofit in Loudoun County, VA, which included extensive storytelling to better reflect the organization’s mission.
Lisa has 12+ years of experience in the health and fitness industry. She has a strong understanding of the industry from launching and co-managing a thriving small business specializing in performance training, nutrition, and corporate wellness. Lisa oversaw and executed all communications, digital content, and marketing efforts for the gym, including social media calendars and campaigns, member communications, blogs, digital newsletters, and PR outreach.
As a freelance writer, Lisa has experience writing social media and website content for several businesses in the home improvement sector. She writes social media calendars, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram posts, for a general contracting firm, a high-end outdoor spaces company, and an irrigation + lighting business. Lisa knows how to research each industry she works with to discover what information will connect with her clients' audiences and write catchy, compelling, and digestible content.
Lisa has an intimate understanding of all aspects of business operations from her 10+ years as a small business owner. She also spent the early part of her career as the Director of Communications for the world’s largest organization representing food, beverage, and consumer products companies. During this time, she worked with executives of the world’s most well-known brands and was required to understand complex challenges impacting their businesses, including information technology, supply chain logistics, transportation, food safety, tax legislation, regulatory issues, and more. She served as a media spokesperson for the organization and wrote about business issues via a variety of print and digital channels.
Lisa has 12+ years of experience in the health and fitness industry, including experience as a certified nutrition coach. She has a strong understanding of the industry from launching and co-managing a thriving small business specializing in performance training, nutrition, and corporate wellness. She was a Precision Nutrition-certified nutrition coach and worked with more than 200 clients on both group nutrition challenges as well as one-to-one coaching. She has extensive experience writing nutrition-focused blogs, member communication collateral, website, and social media content.
Lisa has written social media copy across multiple platforms as an in-house communications professional, a communications consultant, and small business owner. Her work includes researching and writing evergreen social media calendars for several small businesses in the health and fitness, sports performance, outdoor space, construction, food, restaurant, and technology sectors. She works with clients to understand their goals, voice, tone, and specific calls to action to develop snappy, on-brand social content.
Lisa's earliest passion was news reporting, studying journalism in college and earning the University of Delaware's E.A. Nickerson Award for Outstanding Acheivement in Journalism. She has 10+ years of professional experience in public relations and is currently a student in UCLA's creative writing program, concentrating in creative nonfiction and essay writing.

Her most recent work included writing case studies of a digital media firm's small business client responses to COVID-19, and rewriting more than 40 case studies for a financial service business. As a student in UCLA's creative writing program, Lisa has further honed her passion and skill for storytelling and essay writing, skills that translate naturally to case study writing.

She has written website copy for Washington, DC-based trade associations, nonprofits, federal contractors, and small businesses, including her own fitness business in Northern Virginia, which she co-owned for 10 years.
