After graduating from journalism school, Jana landed a job as an editor and paginator for one of Canada's largest newspapers. She edited articles, wrote display copy such as headlines and cutlines, and posted on the website. She also monitored for breaking news stories and suggested exciting and relevant stories to post on the site. In addition to editing and web work, Jana flexed her design skills by laying out and designing the newspaper pages.
Jana has written advertorials and branded content for clients. She conducted interviews and worked with clients to make sure the article fits the brand and its values. Jana currently works as a freelance writer and volunteers as a senior editor at a pet cancer organization.
