During this time he would make every effort to experience life as a local, for example staying at a Riad in the Medina of Marrakesh. He also took advantage of experiencing exclusive lifestyles while on the canals of Venice or the world class resorts in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

He has an uncanny skill for keeping subjects interesting to both the layman and the professional. He covers any topic with the right amount of depth to keep things interesting.

Sam is an avid skier, both downhill and cross-country. Keeping active in the winter has never been much trouble for him, growing up and continuing to play ice hockey in his adult life.
In the summer, you can find him riding a bicycle through the Loire Valley in France, along the C&O towpath from Washington D.C to Pittsburgh, PA or right from his front door in Santa Monica, CA through the U.S. and into Vancouver, Canada.
