Justin's exposure to the world of content-making started at MTSU. As an undergraduate, he studied screenwriting and producing, initially wanting to make motion pictures. After engaging with a professor who recognized the lack of resources available to student filmmakers, Justin created the MTSU Film Guild; a program student-run production company and learning lab. Through that program, he produced content and learned the fundamentals of team-building, strategy, effective communication, and meeting deadlines.

After graduation, Justin decided to try his hand at directly communicating to a major audience by becoming a journalist. He started writing through The Murfreesboro Pulse, eventually working his way up to the position of Operations Manager. That position entailed him doing a little bit of everything, from writing to and selling advertisements to social media management and event promotion. This allowed him to engage members of Rutherford County on a large scale.

Wanting to make his expansion into the greater Nashville area, Justin decided to leave the Pulse to pursue freelance writing. Unknown to him, Justin’s knowledge of the workings of social media and print journalism would have him getting used as a PR consultant and a social media manager for a plethora of projects. As a writer, Justin had a monthly film column for Nashville Arts Magazine and has written for the Daily News Journal, The Tennessean, 12th and Broad, the Nashville Scene, Nashville.com, Murfreesboro.com, CoolSprings.com, SplitSider (Vulture), the Red Orbit, Country Weekly, CMT.com, Home Page Media, AntiochTenn.com, The East Nashvillian, Williamson Herald, HBCU Research Magazine, Forward Beat, Murfreesboro Post, Nashville Notes, and Cigar Aficionado.

This knowledge has proved indispensable to those looking to understand how to work the Nashville market’s media, leading to a steady stream of work for Justin as an outsourced public relations advisor. Clients for such work include the Murfreesboro Art Crawl, InHaus Creative, Dignity Memorial (under Parachute Media), Global Real Estate Education Network (GREEN), Sidebar Digital, Man Over Machine, CityNotes Media, Miss Daisy's Kitchen, Mayday Brewery, Xingu Beer, Wizard World, Estate Antiques, and CCI TN.
