Kate is primarily a creative writer, with an emphasis on crafting original musicals, plays, screenplays, and personal essays. She is a 2018 Jonathan Larson Grant Finalist, and the book writer and lyricist for her musicals with Joey Contreras, "Ring Around" (Provincetown Playhouse, Tisch, IWU, O’Neill NMTC Finalist) and "Forget Me Not" (The Dare Tactic, Open Jar Institute, Tisch). She is a 2018 & 2019 Athena Theatre Company Playwriting Fellow & Resident Dramaturge, and her plays include "Dirty July" (Monsterpiece Theater Collective, The Eddy, New York Theater Festival, Athena Reads), "Genuinely Here" (Athena Theatre Company at Symphony Space) and "Shooting Janine" (Athena Theatre Company at Symphony Space). She received her MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from Tisch School of the Arts.
Kate is a massive beauty nut with a huge passion for non-toxic makeup and skincare. She is a certified makeup artist, and has done makeup for various headshot and wedding photoshoots. Similarly, she worked briefly as a Seasonal Artist for Sephora, and her primary responsibilities included color-matching clients, recommending products based on need and skin type, staying up to date on the latest beauty trends, generating sales, and performing in-store makeovers. Furthermore, her impressive creative writing resume and ability to craft accessible dialogue, makes her an ideal candidate for beauty blogging and copywriting. She knows how to connect with people through her posts, and her voice effortlessly translates to strong readership.
Kate has been a passionate advocate for shining the light on women's health issues and concerns for as long as she can remember. She is particularly invested in researching (and then subsequently writing about) clean skincare and household products, female hormonal health, birth control, gynecological care, psychology, and wellness strategies.
Kate has a variety of personal experiences that have contributed to a number of blog posts across multiple platforms. She is happy to write about most anything, provided it gives her an opportunity to showcase her own perspective. This is a snippet of a lifestyle post she did for Thought Catalog a few years ago.
Kate wrote this ten-minute play titled, "Shooting Janine," while she was a Playwriting Fellow with Athena Theatre Company. It was then performed at Symphony Space.
Kate worked for three years as a Guest Relations Manager for a Broadway Cabaret venue. She repeatedly crafted email copy when engaging with patrons. This is a mock email that is in accordance with said copy.
