Melissa is a native English speaker and published scientist with a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Biology and a B.A. in Psychology. During her graduate education, she maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. She can provide high quality work with close attention to detail in scientific writing, journalism, editing, researching, literature review, statistical figure creation, fact-checking, and presentation for professional, academic, or general public audiences. SCIENCE & MEDICINE
Melissa is a published scientist with eight years of laboratory and written research experience. She is highly experienced at researching and interpreting scientific literature and writing on a variety of scientific and biomedical topics. She is passionate about the development and advancement of science, medicine, and research. She has traveled worldwide to present research at various scientific conferences, including: written, PowerPoint, poster, and speaking presentations. In addition, she is a former clinical research coordinator and is familiar with the clinical trial and regulatory processes.

ACADEMIA & TEACHING
Melissa has many years of experience as a university lab instructor in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Biology for Educators courses. She also worked as a research mentor to Texas Academy of Math and Science students and pre-medical students. Therefore, she is experienced with teaching and conveying information to students in an understandable manner. In May 2018, she was awarded “Outstanding TA” (chosen from over 100 departmental TA's) by the UNT Biology Department, based on student and supervisor feedback.

EDITING & PROOFREADING
Melissa has worked as a freelance scientific editor for numerous medical and scientific manuscripts that were written by physicians and researchers for publication in various life science and medical journals. Furthermore, she is experienced at editing manuscripts written by non-native English speakers.

TRAVEL
Melissa's scientific work has taken her all over the world and she also travels often for leisure. Therefore, she is passionate about travel writing and travel research, as well. In recent years, she has traveled to various locations in Germany, Sweden, Austria, Romania, England, Scotland, and Ireland. In addition, she has traveled to various cities in China, as well as all over the US.
