Marla is the mother of six children. She loves writing about parenting, health, pets, and education. She has 2 dogs, a cat, a Sun Conure (exotic bird), 8 chickens and 2 ducks. She runs her own homeschool blog where she writes about how kids learn, using the latest research in the fields of cognitive and neuroscience.
Marla attended community college for a year and a half after graduating high school. While there, she wrote for the school newspaper and took several writing intensive courses. She left college to pursue other interests and is still busy with those interests.
Marla has written curriculum for a popular membership homeschooling curriculum website. This included a year-long modern history course for early elementary kids and a semester-long 5th-grade science course.
Marla reads a lot about health and sometimes blogs on health topics which have not reached mainstream media.

Marla has her own blog and also blogs on Medium. She has written over 100 blogs on education, child development, and health. She has also completed guest blog posts and been paid to ghost-write blog posts for health and education companies.
Marla has written magazine articles for The Old Schoolhouse on various homeschooling topics including teaching music in the home, the skills behind S.T.E.M., creating a math unit study, and more slated to publish in 2019 and 2020.
