Kelsey received her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Palm Beach Atlantic University in December 2013. While in school, Kelsey tutored in the college's writing center and worked for several years as editor of her school's literary magazine, The Living Waters Review. She graduated as the Outstanding Graduate for the College of Arts and Sciences (awarded to one student per semester) and as the Outstanding Graduate for the English Department (awarded to one student per academic year).
Kelsey received her Master of Arts in English Literature from Florida State University in April 2016. During her time at Florida State, she worked as the assistant online editor for the national literary journal, The Southeast Review, and taught college composition courses.
For several years, Kelsey worked as a communications contractor to U.S. Department of Energy program offices (including the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability). In this role, Kelsey edited dozens of technical manuscripts, including workshop reports, scientific studies, strategic plans, and user manuals. She also edited the second installment of the White House's Quadrennial Energy Review, a comprehensive assessment of the nation's electricity system (January 2017). Kelsey also provided day-to-day writing support for the Bioenergy Technologies Office's Communications Department, writing and editing blog posts, emails, press releases, social media copy, and more.
Kelsey currently works in digital marketing for a national restaurant chain, overseeing email, social media, and web communications. She is proficient in writing emails, web content, product descriptions, brochures, and other marketing materials that will help convert your potential customers.
Kelsey has experience writing book and theatre reviews, literary criticism, and blog posts on popular media and pop culture. She used to run a young adult fiction review blog and has experience writing short, humorous essays.
Kelsey manages the email marketing for a major restaurant chain, including planning creative content and writing copy. She also has extensive experience writing email blasts and monthly email newsletters for the U.S. Department of Energy's Bioenergy Technologies Office.
From April 2017 to February 2018, Kelsey wrote the U.S. Department of Energy's Bioenergy Technologies Office's monthly email newsletter, including photos and stories about the office's work, bioenergy research, and upcoming industry events. She also wrote the quarterly employee newsletter for a management consulting firm, which employed a more casual tone and focused on human interest pieces and relevant company news.
Kelsey has written both technical and conversational blog posts for public- and private-sector clients. Her blog posts have included interviews, listicles, how-to guides, and political commentary.
