Chris' writing specialties include speechwriting, political analysis and commentary, policy memos, blog posts, advocacy materials, reports, and short-form campaign copy. He is a versatile writer who can quickly learn and adapt to many contexts.
Chris' writing interests include policy areas such as state and local policy, transportation, voting access/voting rights, land use, LGBTQ+ issues, and others. His professional capacities include policy development, data analysis, fundraising, research, and grant management. Non-writing interests (which could be called upon to write about!) include pop culture, food, and the National Parks.
His experience in politics dates back to his early work in state and local campaigns in South Central Texas. He has written multiple campaign and field plans, as well as advocacy plans and internal/external facing materials for these different types of campaigns.
He has worked within government at the local level as Chief of Staff to a member of the San Antonio City Council. This involved writing newsletters, talking points, speeches, policy briefs, and many other kinds of written materials. After that practical experience, he worked in advocacy at a professional association and completed a Master's program.
He has extensive experience in research and can write policy or politics-focused articles on a number of topics. His experience consists mainly of academic writing, including articles with the Brookings Institution and Harvard Institute of Politics.
