What do you choose as a career when you're curious about everything? Journalism seemed the obvious choice for Tara! She got her start interning and writing for Philadelphia City Paper and Business Philadelphia Magazine (in fact, she was the first intern to be published in Business Philadelphia).

After working as a newspaper reporter at a small Dow Jones daily in Pennsylvania, where she took on the education beat, Tara moved to New York City for a job as Associate Editor at Golf Magazine Custom Publishing. There, she acted as Managing Editor of the regional Met Golfer Magazine. Within a year, she was promoted to Associate Editor for Golf Magazine. By the time she left Golf, in 2007, she had been promoted to Senior Editor and had managed several sections of the magazine, from the Front of the Book (lots of fun articles and charticles!), to the travel section. She had traveled to more than a dozen destinations to write about resorts and golf, and had covered countless majors, including the British Open, U.S. Open, Masters, PGA Championship and Ryder Cup. She authored/edited two golf books, including co-ghost writing Annika Sorenstam's “Golf Annika’s Way.”

It was somewhat painful for Tara to leave her job, which she loved, but in 2007, she landed a part-time contract contributing travel content to Condé Nast’s Golf for Women and its web site and decided to make the leap into a freelance career. Eventually, she began working for Bloomberg Businessweek Custom Publishing, writing about business, technology and business travel, among other topics. She has also helped several businesses with copywriting, and is currently editing a book about running a successful financial planning business. She still helps Golf Magazine with its annual ClubTest section.

Tara also volunteers for the Stamford Land Conservation Trust, currently sitting on its board. She manages its Facebook account, acts as newsletter editor, and rewrote the copy for its web site redesign.
