Karen got started with content writing when friends and family began asking for help with their websites and blogs. While they knew what they wanted to say, they didn’t know how to say. That is where Karen came in. With a bit of research and a lot of listening, she gave voice to their ideas. This helped them improve their web presence and drive more business to their sites.

With a 12-year history in the Real Estate and Mortgage industries, much of her writing has revolved around these subjects. Real Estate agents need fresh descriptions to catch buyer’s attention and helpful information to give seller’s confidence in their ability to close the deal. The mortgage industry, in constant flux since the 2008 housing crisis, needs distilled information on complex subjects. Karen’s knowledge and experience allows her to provide both whether in her freelance or corporate work.

While she enjoys writing about what she knows, she loves writing about what she’s just learned. Research and investigation into something new is always exciting to her. When writing for a client in a business she’s not familiar with, that excitement comes through in her work. Karen had never heard of a Saskatoon berry before working with a client who grows them, but learned much that she was able to share with their visitors.

Karen has 12 years of experience in the mortgage industry. She is a seasoned mortgage closer, construction loan coordinator and closing supervisor. She shares her expertise by writing job aids about changing regulations. Procedures on how the company intends to follow those regulations have become a big part of her work.

These years of experience have also allowed her to branch out into writing for Realtors. To attract buyers and sellers, agents are always in need of content, articles and blogs. Karen can present complex concepts in a simple and informative way.

In her writing, Karen requires the information be both relevant and interesting. This may mean additional research about a subject or questions to a client. The content will be a direct reflection of the business or individual it represents. Getting those right is important.

When she first started working with a Saskatoon grower, she knew little about the berry. The client provided her with his knowledge about the fruit. This information gave her a framework to build on. Using her own curiosity, Karen uncovered more information. This gave her what she needed to flesh out the story and share it through the website.
