Michael will receive his Ph.D. in English from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in August 2017. His doctoral dissertation, *Science, Politics, and Soul-Making: The Romantic Encounter with Climate Change*, was defended and accepted in May 2017. Michael completed his M.S. in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois's Graduate School of Library and Information Science, the top-ranked school nationally in its field, in 2014.
Michael received his J.D. from Tulane Law School in 2003, where he served on the Moot Court Board and Moot Court Team.
Michael received his B.A. with honors in 2003. He completed the conclusion of his undergraduate studies concurrently with his law degree at Tulane Law School.
As a contract attorney, Michael drafted briefs and pleadings for a lead attorney in both trial and appellate matters.
Michael received a fellowship to maintain a blog over the course of a year, exploring climate change and related topics from a humanistic perspective.
Michael wrote two paid and solicited articles for an academic encyclopedia on the topic of climate change.
