Travis has studied various levels of many disciplines in his years of college and professional work. This versatility provides him the unique ability to write on topics ranging from content marketing to food science to pit bull bans. He graduated in 2007 with a dual bachelor's degree in both Religious Studies and Music.

In the Religious Studies degree program, Travis focused his studies on religious fundamentalisms and their relationship to terrorism and religious violence, both foreign and domestic. In the Music program, he was required to show competence in music theory, music history, functional piano, and a primary instrument, which was the bass trombone. As a final independent project, Travis presented a term paper that aimed to embrace the crossover of these two programs, so the study was done through the Religious Studies department with cooperation from the Music department, and was title, "Religiosity As Expressed Through Bebop Jazz Improvisation." It is by far the coolest thing I have ever produced.

Outside of college, Travis has followed several paths that have continued to lead to a well-rounded understanding of the world around him. He spent seven years as a credit union branch manager, followed by three years managing online selling platforms for a national distributor of school supplies. Amidst these permanent positions, he also spent time writing for publications like LiberalAmerica.org, as well as authoring several of his own blogs on various topics.

Travis recently decided it was time to embrace a full-time freelance and contract career, and is actively seeking both short and long term work.

Travis previously wrote articles for LiberalAmerica.org, focusing mostly on Wisconsin politics and animal issues. His articles consistently pushed readers to challenge their own preconceptions and dig below the surface for the more profound implications of political motives. Though no longer writing for this publication, he remains a voice for both Wisconsin progressives and pit bull advocates.

Travis has authored multiple blogs over the years. The first was a politics blog titled Democrat by Default, which has since been changed to Greater Fool Society. He has an upcoming project of a food and music blog called Rock the Crockpot. His current main blog is called Millicent Bloggings, named for his pit bull Millicent. The site is a combination of pit bull advocacy, a picture dump for pictures of his three dogs, and a local outreach to work within the community to make dog ownership safer for both dogs and owners.
