Josh specializes in fields where concise and clear language are most values -- the sciences, technology, health and wellness, and self-help. He also has a strong affinity for art, literature and popular culture in all its forms.
Bicycling, running, hiking, reading and cooking are among Josh's top interests. He also wan't say no to a trip to the local multiplex, or an evening spent playing the latest RPG/Fantasy video game on PS4.
In completing his MA at MSU, Josh achieved summa cum laude distinction. Extracurricular activities pursued included serving on the editorial board of Inscape magazine and sitting in as student representative on several administrative/faculty committees.
Josh held a graduate assistant position at MSU while working toward his MA in English literature. In that capacity, he taught or assisted in several sections of freshman-level English and English 200. He also provided general help to department faculty as requested. Josh presented original work at the 2007 20th Century American Literature Conference in Louisville.
Josh has helped dozens of technology companies communicate the value of their products and services to the public in clear, non-technical and persuasive language. He works with clients to fully understand and distill their innovative offerings. Communication channels have included articles, emails, blog posts, case studies and PR blasts. In addition, Josh closely follows technology news and trends as part of his professional development.
Recently, Josh has provided consultation and content development to a new Montessori Academy. That work has included the writing and layout of a full-color brochure, multiple postcard mailers, website content, email blasts and feature articles for area publications. He has also helped educational startups tailor messages that connect strongly with parents and other educators. Josh brings his own experience as a classroom instructor to many of these relationships.
As a solo professional, Josh understands the daily challenges of running a successful business. He has brought that knowledge to several mutually beneficial client relationships over the years. Josh's work in this industry has included the refinement of business plans, the development of marketing strategies and the crafting of precise messages for internal and/or external stakeholders.
Josh has provided short and long-form articles to clients in industries ranging from business and finance to high-tech fields. That work has likewise included articles requiring intensive research and investigations, as well as those with lighter subject matter. Josh's articles have appeared in print form in academic journals, magazines, newspapers and brochures, and in digital form on websites and through email marketing.
Josh has worked with many hundreds of clients in developing press releases to accomplish specific business and marketing goals. His work has helped companies energize change, receive mainstream media coverage and enjoy highly successful product launches. Josh follows media developments closely to keep abreast of what journalists are focused on at any one point in time. He leverages this knowledge to assist clients who need to break through into the public consciousness.
Josh has collaborated with clients from numerous industries in the development and refinement of public-facing web content that accomplishes one or more important goals. He has followed the growth and change taking place in online communication since the early 2000s; today, he applies current best practices to web content style and presentation. Josh has worked on web pages both with a blank slate, and with existing pages in need of overhaul.
