Internship as a reporter at the Thousand Oaks News Chronicle, a daily newspaper. Other internships included working as a copywriter at two ad agencies and a real estate firm.
Gary has worked in the health insurance industry since 1992 when he started working at Health Net in the Marketing Communications Department as an editor and proofreader. His other jobs at Health Net include contract analyst, proposal writer and database manager for the Proposals Unit.
In 1999, Gary started working at a large health insurer in Provider Communications where he produced operations manuals for doctors, quarterly newsletters and other communication materials. In 2004, he began working as a copywriter in the Marketing Communications department. He wrote copy for members, employers, brokers, and providers. This included brochures, fliers, letters, emails, website copy, executive summaries for proposals and more.
Gary has written copy for many fliers, letters and brochures that explain various health conditions and programs to manage these conditions.
Gary's career in journalism included working at The Tolucan, a weekly community newspaper in the Los Angeles area. He wrote numerous news and feature articles on events and local personalities. Gary had the pleasure of editing a weekly column by Mr. Blackwell, a fashion designer who was best known for his worst-dressed list.
As a copywriter for two health insurance companies, Gary has created copy for many brochures on a wide range of topics, including benefits, programs, services, provider networks and more.
Gary has written email copy for a wide range of topics and styles during his writing career. Audiences include consumers, employers, brokers and doctors.
