Ron has particular interest in the health fields---both physical and mental health. He is a licensed professional counselor.
He is also a Realtor and licensed real estate broker associate and has created blogs in that realm.
Running, biking, hiking, racquetball, screenwriting, faith, and poetry. That's just a fraction of his interests. Ron also enjoys going to Renaissance festivals in character.
Ron received his B.A. degree in English after taking every writing course that was available including: Professional Writing, Magazine Writing, Journalism, Creative Writing, as well as introductory writing courses.
Outside of his major his electives areas of study were very diverse. He took multiple course in philosophy, psychology, business, and sociology.
While attending college, he also was involved in many extra-curricular activities which included founding and editing a college magazine, "Emanon Enizagam." He also published poetry in "The Lion's Eye."
He was very involved in student government, holding executive positions in the Student Government Association. During this time he also dabbled in acting, performing for a semi-professional theater company called "Shakespeare 70."
Ron achieved his graduate degree while working full time. During his counseling internship he received the "Citizen of the Month" award for Rapid City, South Dakota for his work with the homeless population.
Ron was elected as an alderman to the second largest city in South Dakota. His unique experience and interest in politics led to his writing a political column for the Rapid City Journal. He has also provided marketing assistance for several political campaigns. In writing about any issue, he feels that it is important to understand both sides of the issue.
As the program director, Ron created the vast majority of marketing materials for a brain injury rehabilitation program. The program grew by over 400% during his tenure. The marketing included rehabilitation, support groups, patient information, and conference marketing. Ron also presented on various topics at numerous conferences in the midwest region, including Mayo Clinic. With his expertise in brain injury and mental health he is well-versed to write about many issues in the health field.
Ron worked in the real estate securing private marketing projects prior to becoming a licensed broker associate. He has created web-based content for specific properties and for agents. Ron also writes a blog geared specifically toward real estate marketing.
Ron has written columns for a newspaper. Though the primary focus of his columns was geared toward local politics, he was given flexibility to write about mental health issues, medical issues, and broader social issues. His ability to write engaging articles that were also well researched made him a favorite with many readers.
Ron has written eight feature length screenplays and has provided assistance to nonprofits with writing scripts for commercials and public service announcements. Creating real dialogue and believable characters is critical to any writing project. Ron's background as a licensed professional counselor provides a unique understanding of character complexity that most writers do not have.
Ron has written both political blogs and real estate blogs. His political blogging was related to his experience as an elected official to keep citizens informed of what was happening in the city when he was in office. His real estate blogging is part of his current work in real estate. His goal is to find engaging topics and use keywords that will be picked up by search engines to improve rankings.
