Barbara has a love of writing which began in her early years of middle school, writing for the school and city newspapers. That interest continued through high school and college where she excelled in journalistic writing for newspapers and yearbooks. She had double majors in English and journalism for her BA and MA degrees where she gained experience in writing class compositions of all types. Teaching high school courses covering creative and newspaper writing to college courses focusing on business and technical writing, she learned methods to show students how to write successfully and improve their own writing styles. During this time, Barbara attended many writing workshops and enjoyed courses in both fiction and non-fiction writing. More recently Barbara spent several years in the communications industry, writing copy for technical manuals for clients. She also was a public relations coordinator who wrote newspaper, brochure, and web articles for a major non-profit organization. Revising historical, biographical, and fictional books has been a joy for her in recent years. The revisions involved rewriting many passages for clarity and conciseness. Published authors have loved and appreciated her very capable writing style and have returned for additional help.

6 Projects Completed

Barbara wrote large amounts of web copy for six different entities. They ranged from The Salvation Army and MCI WorldCom to minor projects like NASCO. She enjoyed working on those projects, especially in areas of her expertise. Seeing the copy on a web page and many times seeing the improvements she had made to the web site was quite fulfilling. Another assignment she recently completed was writing an exercise manual for a client trainer who she worked closely with to make his technical explanations simple for a client to follow.
