Gary enjoys helping his freelance writing clients connect with their target audiences. Outside his freelance writing career, he provides administrative support services for a local economic development agency and sings the praises of his community in a blog called Champaign Uncorked!
When not writing, Gary enjoys music and outdoor fitness activities, particularly running and bicycling. He volunteers through his church, the local chamber of commerce and visitors bureau and with the local rails to trails organization that develops and maintains bike trails.
At Franklin College, Gary's concentration of study was in print journalism. While in college, he worked on the school newspaper, serving as reporter, copy editor and features editor, and had internships at two daily newspapers.
For 15 years Gary served as community relations coordinator for a health care system. In this role, he wrote health-related articles for internal and external hospital publications.
Now as a freelance copywriter, Gary continues to write health-related articles for hospitals and writes SEO content for a wide variety of companies, including a health care system.
Gary served as agriculture editor for a daily newspaper and wrote agricultural features for the paper. One of these, on cloning cows, won a first place award in feature writing from the Ohio Associated Press.
Now, as a freelance writer, one of his regular clients is a world renowned dairy production expert, for whom Gary has edited books and columns, as well as written articles and scripts.
As the community relations coordinator for a health care system, Gary wrote press releases, brochures and feature articles for hospital publications on new medical technology, surgical techniques, health conditions and preventive health practices. While with the health care system, he earned awards of excellence in health care marketing from the Aster Awards program and the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development. He was with the health system for 15 years before beginning a freelance writing career, which has included work for hospitals.

In his freelance writing career he continues to enjoy writing on health care, health and fitness topics. And he has a personal interest in fitness as a recreational runner who enters 5Ks and half marathons.
