Because of his internship at the Austin Chronicle, Matthew is best at journalistic writing, though also has taken classes in travel writing, film, cultural criticism and children's literature.
Matthew's interests include Texas politics, film, cultural criticism, reproductive justice and LGBTQIA+ rights.
At Texas State, Matthew double majored in English and Spanish, though the majority of his classes were interdisciplinary Honors classes across Humanities disciplines. He's taken upper-level classes in cultural criticism, film, children's literature and travel writing.
Matthew has worked several progressive non-profit jobs, and eventually used his internship at the Austin Chronicle to write about his experience as an Advocacy Assistant at Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas.
Matthew wrote his undergrad thesis in Trends in Gender and Sexuality in Contemporary Children's Fairy Tales. His interdisciplinary Honors classes required cultural criticism nearly every step of the way. He's written about film, literature and music videos.
While working as an Advocacy Assistant at Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas, Matthew conducted outreach via e-mail newsletters to various nonprofits and other useful community organizations that could be viable resources.
