Dave has copyedited articles for a small, local magazine named Culver City Neighbors. His primary responsibility there was to edit for readability; many submissions to the magazine came from non-professional writers and required grammatical fixes. He was also responsible for the final proofreading of every piece that went into the magazine.
Additionally, for the past several years he has edited the board book for the McElhatten Foundation. McElhatten a grant-making foundation that produces a 200+ page book every six months summarizing all of their grant applications. The application summaries are written by foundation staff to assist the board of directors in choosing which applicants to fund. His job is to ensure that all summaries adhere to the (informal) internal style guide and to double-check factual information. He also does a final proofread of the book once all summaries have been collated.
He has a keen eye for grammar mistakes and spelling issues and has also served as the de-facto editor for grant applications, training manuals and external communication at several of his prior workplaces.
