The prestigious School of Communication Arts and Design at Virginia Commonwealth University was a challenge, to say the least. But the competition and workload demanded by the award-winning professors gave Van the grounding in the basics he needed to start his career.
The Independent Studies program I was involved with at Syracuse University was one of the great honors of my life. Working with the field's top illustrators and traveling to different regions of the country to see how the field really works was amazing.
Van's extensive experience includes multiple industries, but design is where he made his bread and butter. Early in his career he started out created a web presence and/or print design for clients and employers. However, over the past 15 years he has used his skills to help with higher-level projects, such as rebranding for clients, as well as the more day-to-day graphical needs.
During Van's 25 year career, he has had multiple full-time jobs as well as dozens of freelance and contract clients. Projects for these clients range from 3D modeling, 3D animation, video editing, print design, logos, icons, web design and development, and illustration.
Clients include private businesses, large corporations, non-profits, and education.
Over the past year Van has been working with a local real estate agency with their YouTube videos. The videos are shot by the client, and Van edits them. Van also has extensive editing experience over the past 10 years with videography, direction, and video editing for a large non-profit training center.
Van has extensive experience with modeling and animation using 3D Max. He is detail-oriented with a focus on storytelling.
