Andy is a mechanical engineer, owner of Boondock Campers LLC, and a part-time freelance writer. In April 2016, he founded Boondock Campers, a small-town manufacturer of teardrop campers and lightweight travel trailers. He can usually be found either swearing in his workshop or plunking out a 400-word research article.

During his college years, he worked as a general salesman for Classic Buildings, in which he became a phone answerer extraordinaire (and yes, that was his technical title). Before that, he worked as a Product Engineering Co-op for Parker Hannifin - Sporlan Division, in which he developed technical presentations, used 3D modeling software, and oversaw manufacturing projects.

He first conned a client into paying for his words at age 18. After realizing he could keep up this game indefinitely, he earned an academic minor in English and has been writing off-and-on for seven years.
