Marlene's writing career began while working in the Stock and Bond Division of AT&T in the Wall Street area of New York City when she was promoted from Security Owner Correspondent to Policy and Procedure Analyst. Her assignments included writing question and answer sheets for employees to use while fielding telephone inquiries, letter templates to be used when answering written inquiries, and sections of the corporate policy and procedure manuals.

Marlene also wrote policy and procedure documents as part of her work as an analyst for Allied-Signal Aerospace Company and the Toshiba Corporation. Marlene has written content and created the graphics for various websites and has also worked as a copy editor and proofreader for a number of sites.

Marlene was the technical editor and proofreader for several Information Technology books -- published by Sybex and friends of ED -- dealing with Flash and ActionScript. This work involved reading the manuscripts and testing the code (computer programs) to be certain that the code did what the author claimed it would do.

Marlene had a consulting assignment in Stockholm, Sweden for Ab Trav och Galopp, a harness racing track, which was expanding the scope of its business to online betting. Her work included designing graphics, testing code, and writing content for the English language portion of the company's Web site.

For the past several years, Marlene has been doing freelance writing, proofreading, and copy editing. Since 2011, she has been publishing content-rich online articles under her byline for a site based in San Francisco, California. Publishing these articles involved use of SEO and Google Analytics. Marlene has written travel articles for major domestic and international clients of a content marketing company based in Tampa, Florida. She has also written city-specific articles for companies or families withing to relocate. Her expertise in numerous aspects of both crafts and fine arts has led to her assignments related to museums, specific artists, and schools of art.

Marlene uses The Associated Press Stylebook as her guide when writing. She has also used the Chicago Manual of Style when requested to do so by clients.

Marlene's writing is adaptable to the needs of her clients. She produces clear, concise copy in whatever genre is required. She has written in both American English and Canadian English, and has edited books written in Jamaican English.
