Jennifer completed her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oswego in May 2003, graduating with Magna Cum Laude distinction.
Jennifer completed her first Master's Degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oswego in August 2004, finishing with a 4.0 GPA. Her culminating thesis project explored the uses of hands-on learning materials and activities to teach Social Studies concepts, specifically in regard to teaching Middle Eastern Antiquity to sixth grade students in a public elementary school. She co-authored an article with her graduate thesis advisor, which highlighted the key elements of her academic work and was published in the March/April 2005 issue of Social Studies and the Young Learner.
Jennifer completed her second Master's degree in Literacy Education from SUNY Oswego in May 2010. Her course of study focused on best-practices in literacy education in public schools, including diagnostic measures and intervention methods for students struggling with literacy.
Jennifer is a certified teacher in both NYS and North Carolina, with 15 years of experience in elementary, secondary, and special education settings. Her training and credentials include certification in general education for grades pre-kindergarten through grade 6, Social Studies education for grades 7-9, and as a literacy specialist from Birth through Grade 6.
Jennifer's professional development has encompassed both Reading First and Common Core. Through her graduate work, she also completed independent research studies on the use of hands-on materials in teaching Social Studies and the application and impact of reading intervention programs with struggling students.
Jennifer has completed six sponsored blog posts for Nectresse Sweetener, Scharr, and OXO. These posts required the use of the company's product as an ingredient in a recipe or to review the use of a product in the preparation of a recipe. These posts were shared through Jennifer's social media accounts, as well as via the social media platforms of the companies.
Jennifer has written several guided meditations to help children ages 10-14 deal with stress and anxiety in school and social situations. Her expertise as an educator has helped her ensure these meditations would be developmentally appropriate. The meditations are to be used by the organizations GoZen and GoStrengths.
