Doug attended the Edward Williams campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University immediately upon graduation from high school. As a liberal arts major he pursued the standard Liberal Arts program. Doug was involved in several projects including set and costume design and for the school production of Arthur Koppet's black comedy " Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Momma's Hung you in the Closet and I'm Feeling So Sad".

While working for a retail advertising agency one of the accounts was Volkswagen Of America. I wrote two quarterly publications. One for Volkswagen and one for Porsche/AudiThere Volkswagen was aggressively expanding their dealer network and that included their parts and service departments. The project consisted of three years writing a 16 page publications, published quarterly, promoting parts, accessories, dealer service plus helpful tips to motorists on self maintenance, trip planning, and numerous other topics. Also included were retail copy segments for specific products including tires, wiper blades, roof racks, and everything else a customer might purchase through the dealer.

New hire training consisted of showing new employees how to operate the systems, voice main, answering services etc.
