Jason was bitten with the writing bug in high school. On a whim, he decided to take a Journalism class, making him a member of his high school's student paper, which ran as a supplement to the local paper. After his first article was published, making him something of a local celebrity, he realized he had been bitten by the writing bug.

Jason's other passion was sports. As a four-sport letter winner in football, basketball, track and baseball (did we mention he lived in a small town), it seemed only natural to pursue a career in sports journalism once it became obvious the NBA wasn't calling.

While studying history and journalism at the University of Northern Iowa, Jason accepted a stringer position at the same small local paper he had written for in high school covering local sporting events. From there, he earned a part-time spot on the sports desk at the Waterloo Courier. After graduation, his first "real world" job was as a full-time sportswriter for the Marshalltown Times-Republican.

Jason stepped away from writing professionally in 2001. After moving to Denver, CO, he began working in community recreation for the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. Of course, it remained a passion. In his free time, he composed articles for his fantasy baseball and football league websites.

In 2012, now with a family and a mortgage, Jason once again pursued writing professionally, this time as a freelancer.
