Hayden's specialties include editing and proofreading articles, essays, poems, stories, creative non-fiction, as well as general content to be published online. He is also knowledgeable and proficient in writing articles on a variety of topics.
Hayden's main interests include reading, writing, and weightlifting. He is currently working on a young adult novel focusing on the challenges of living with mental illness. This is a topic that Hayden is familiar with, as he has learned to live and cope with OCD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder for most of his life. He also enjoys working on short stories, poetry, and creative non-fiction when he is not teaching.
Hayden attended Kwantlen right out of High School to pursue the first two years of a degree in English Literature.
The last two years of Hayden's BA in English were taken at Simon Fraser University.
Hayden completed the Professional Development Program at Simon Fraser University, where he achieved a Bachelor of Education with a Minor in Curriculum and Instruction as well as eligibility for a Teaching License in BC.
Hayden has spent the last thirteen years teaching Humanities based courses at the High and Middle School levels, with a strong focus on teaching literacy and writing.
He has also written articles for online journals about the practice of teaching poetry as a means of growing in empathy for others.
These years have helped Hayden to recognize and produce writing with a strong sense of voice and purpose for a variety of audiences and students.
Hayden has had his poetry published online as well as in a short anthology. He has written a number of creative non-fiction pieces as well as multiple short stories.
He has prepared a large number of sermons which he has presented in front of a congregation on multiple occasions.
Additionally he has written and presented multiple graduation speeches over the years.
Hayden has completed a number of articles focused on issues in Education and the Arts, specifically poetry and other genres of Creative Writing.
He has used his background in English Literature as well as his time teaching over the last thirteen years to help him write and complete articles with a strong sense of voice and purpose.
