Kathleen specializes in the health care and tech industries, but she is a quick learner (her first job was at an accounting firm), and she enjoys branching out of her comfort zone to learn about a new industry. She feels very tied to the mission driven work of the nonprofit space, and she loves to solve problems!
Kathleen was a coxswain on the rowing team during her time at Clemson University (and throughout high school). Living in the DC area has brought her back to the sport and she is now a coach for the only public-school team in all of DC! Before she started her coaching career, she truly missed being on a team and working with teenagers has been a rewarding experience.
Kathleen spent four years as a student athlete at Clemson University. She was a coxswain on the rowing team and lettered all four years.
This is the industry that she is most recently experienced in. She has spent the last 3.5 years working for a nonprofit that focuses on quality and safety in hospitals and fighting for transparency for consumers. She has worked across this organization supporting projects for our ratings, communications, leadership, development, and sales teams. These projects include event planning and materials, social media campaigns and posts (and ad campaigns), marketing materials, public policy documents, web page design and updates, email content and campaigns, and much more.
Kathleen spent a year working in a tech start-up and got an intensive education on all things tech! She has mostly written case studies, blog posts, and web content. These projects covered a wide spectrum of topics from awards projects to the latest Drupal update.
Kathleen has a minor in sports communication. During her time receiving this minor, she conducted and wrote interviews and created social media campaigns and posts.
Kathleen has been the manager of social media in her past roles and has extensive experience creating posts for daily use or for specific needs such as an event. She can create the content for a Facebook post within the restrictions of the platform. Kathleen has experience creating brochures and other marketing collateral for events, products, and other services. She has also created infographics and one-pagers. These have ranged from informational pieces on the organization to product or event specific items. For events, she has created sponsorship prospectus's, programs, and invitations.
Kathleen has created, updated, and edited numerous email campaigns mainly for sales purposes. These emails have included product information, deadlines, and marketing messaging. Additionally, Kathleen has worked on email campaigns for events in order to boost registration, attendance, and sponsorship.
Kathleen has worked with a number of different platforms to create newsletters. She has been responsible for drafting content and graphics, as well as suggesting new topics for inclusion.
Kathleen has written blogs on a variety of topics that show subject matter expertise as well as key announcements such as awards. She can write a blog post on a topic of your choosing. It will be, at minimum, 1000 words and can include a graphic if desired.
Kathleen has created landing pages for webinars, events, and petitions. She has drafted the content, as well as the graphics, and ensures the pages are organized in a clear way.
Kathleen has worked with numerous organizations and vendors to create ads and content to post on another organization's behalf.
Kathleen has worked with a team to draft content and graphics for product pages. Additionally, she has been able to make edits or updates within Drupal and WordPress, saving organizations extra funds.
Kathleen has created and proofed scripts in advance of events and awards receptions. These scripts have required phonetic spellings of names and clear separation of speakers. She has additionally created videos that have included music, lower thirds, graphics, etc.
