Meghan is an open-minded professional, well versed in behavior psychology, child development, cultural diversity, and experiential learning. She has both extensively served the population with Autism Spectrum Disorders in the United States, as well as lived abroad, expanding her passions to global issues and concerns. Her specific skills include communication, development, research, analysis and adaptability. Meghan is proficient at organizing people and events, combining a range of ideas, planning and executing.
Meghan has traveled among six continents, and is passionate about destinations, cultures, accomplishments, big and small, and both commonly shared and unique challenges of humanity. She is interested in writing about individual's and community's stories; how they moved through life scenarios, what they learned and how they grew. She is also interested in behavioral science, trauma and the brain, and education reform. Meghan believes in the dignity and potential of every human being and enjoys illustrating those through writing and speaking.
Meghan has served as an instructor, teacher, supervisor, coach, leader and consultant in public, private and university-based educational programs. Her last ten years have focused on consulted with school systems to revise their systemic approaches to challenging behavior; educate the whole system on the science of behavior, leading to more function-based and equitable decision making for students; and to build greater accountability for appropriately meeting the needs of all learners. Meghan has produced detailed reports, professional development content, and conducted needs assessments capturing the voices of varied stakeholders within their systems.
Meghan has extensive travel experience and has frequently authored local articles and blog posts about her travels. She is driven to unique experiences that most tourists would turn down, and fully immerse herself in the local culture. This drive has led Meghan to horseback riding on the beach at sunset; organizing an art gallery night for a local autism community in Thailand; laying bricks in a village in China; and attending trading day in the mountains of Ghana.
Meghan has served in the non-profit industry as Executive Director of an interfaith-based organization. She led all aspects of an annual event, including leading a diverse steering committee and sub-committees; building relationships with faith and lay leaders and ambassadorial staff; creating press releases, a recurring newsletter and promotional material; and fundraising and partnering with area organizations. Additionally, Meghan has volunteered with local and international non-profit organizations, and served as the Scholarship Chair for an international special education organization.
Meghan has created professional development content pertaining to serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorders; behavior and communication; creating school-wide Positive Behavior Support systems; supporting and empowering families; perspective taking and evidence-based decision making in juvenile justice; and collaborative partnerships. She has created individual presentations as well as training series. Meghan has presented to in-person audiences, virtually live and on-demand, to school systems, at national and international conferences, and parent-focused forums.
Meghan has created blog posts pertaining to travel, family and educational stories, recounting conferences and international events and poignant musings. She is skilled at capturing the essence of an event or story and providing just enough detail to bring the reader there without losing their interest.
