Florence has published honest self-help articles for university students and contributed resources to a careers website for new graduates. In addition, she has an ongoing position as a copywriter & editor for a company that sells online courses within the business & finance sector. Having graduated in 2021, she also draws upon her lived experience of surviving student life!
Florence has written monthly articles for the books & entertainment section of the City Girl Magazine for over 3 years. Book reviews and book-related listicles make up the bulk of her content, in addition to opinion pieces on film, television, and theatre. As well as writing entertainment features and reviews just for fun, she is particularly fascinated with how the entertainment industry reflects wider social issues.
- Diversity and Inclusion
Florence loves working on freelance writing projects that align with her values of social justice, intersectional feminism, decolonisation, and greater inclusion. Her favourite entertainment articles are written with a bold feminist slant, and her blog thoughtfully explores the potential of books to contribute to social justice. Furthermore, she is keen to collaborate with non-profits, social enterprises, and conscious small businesses.
Florence has the most experience writing articles and blog posts, but she has also created compelling product descriptions, social media updates, and direct response sales copy.
Florence spends most of her spare time devouring books. For 18 months over the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns, she volunteered as a virtual book club host. She organised monthly meetings, promoted events on social media, and relished the opportunity to offer young women some much-needed human connection over a shared love of books.
When not reading, Florence can be found trying to do yoga poses, sampling fringe theatre shows, or going for long walks with an obligatory cake at the end.
She pushed herself to hone a sophisticated writing style, ultimately attaining a 1st class degree.
Alongside traditional academic essays, she was assessed through presentations, blogs, and reflective pieces.
Now that she has graduated, she is enjoying the freedom to leave essays behind her and write more lively and fun articles!
