John is a keen reader in topics such as nutrition, training, personal development and business strategy and loves to apply his learning in all aspects of life. When not working, he can be found watching or playing sport, hiking or hanging out with his dog!
John earned his personal training license in 2016. Through an intensive, hands-on course, he studied various aspects of the fitness industry, from SEO marketing techniques to nutritional protocols and everything in between.
John completed his undergraduate degree in University College Dublin. Studying topics such as Strength and Conditioning, Public Health and Advanced Nutrition, John's interest in all things health and fitness was heightened. Throughout the duration of his education, John worked as a freelance personal trainer.
Through John's masters level education, he further developed his writing style, alongside his research skills. John's key dissertation involved the creation of a business plan for developing a chain of work hubs, aimed at the enhancement of employee wellbeing across the country.
John has worked in the fitness industry for over 4 years with a wide variety of clients on both a 1-1 basis and in groups of up to 20. While the majority of clients sought the standard fat loss or muscle gain, there have been a number of more complex individuals who required additional research in order to help them achieve their goals. Those clients who have struggled with gut issues have been at the forefront of John's fitness business. Currently he works with clients on an online basis, providing guidance in navigating their physical training while dealing with various health related issues.
In 2018, John worked on the Marketing team at Leopardstown, one of the largest race courses in Ireland. During his time there, he completed various projects incorporating SEO, blog writing, event promotion and social media management. John has brought all skills learned in the job forward in his work as a freelancer.
Alongside various articles based on nutrition, gut health and training, John has written a number of articles surrounding business topics such as business plans, case studies, business strategy and blue ocean theory.
John developed content for an online sustainable product store. Each piece was based upon the concept of sustainable living and discussed various techniques in reducing our carbon footprint.
John has written a 35,000 word eBook based upon the low FODMAP diet and it's potential impact on various aspects of physical fitness and recovery. Between the research required and the writing of the eBook, alongside other commitments, the project took almost a full year to complete. The publication is written in a formal, science-based tone.
