Richard has been writing since he graduated from college in 1997. He worked as an editorial assistant at Congressional Quarterly out of college for one a publication focused exclusively on House of Representative Legislation. He worked on Capitol Hill as a staff assistant writing speeches and congressional testimony. In addition, Richard worked for a transportation firm where he was responsible for managing the entire response to RFP process including, but not limited to: creating a comprehensive customer service training curriculum; working with subject matter experts; creating rudimentary design style for the responses. He has written as a freelance writer off and on for the past 15 years working on blogs, articles, and even some short stories. He is currently a Realtor and enjoys real estate but he is looking to make a transition over to writing full time which is his true passion.

In addition to editing and copywriting, his responsibilities included analyzing minor house legislation for non-controversial bills. He received a by-line for research and writing on the War Powers legislation due to the Kosova conflict. In addition, Richard worked for Congressman Elijah E. Cummings as a staff assistant where he was responsible for Member correspondence as well as analysis of legislation, specifically related to sustainable environment. He wrote speeches for testimony in front of the Congressional Black Caucus and campaign events. He was a day-to-day operations manager for multiple campaigns throughout the Sacramento region and was responsible for much of the copy that went into chum as well as scripts for phone banking.

Richard worked as the principal writer and manager of responses to RFP's for DAJA International in 2010 until the company went out of business in November, 2010. He worked with a second iteration of DAJA as a consultant in 2011. While at DAJA, we wrote the first successful response to an RFP the company had in over 3 years. Overall, he wrote multiple successful proposals before the company went bankrupt.
