Heidi completed her doctorate in biomedical science with a focus on the biochemistry that drives basic cellular processes. Her thesis work contributed to the ability to predict a protein's function and processing just by reading the amino acid sequence. Specifically, she created predictive power for how well and when a newly made protein would have a group of sugars attached in the N-glycosylation process. This work is important for understanding how proteins are made, packaged, and transported to maintain healthy cells, tissues, and organs.
Heidi has over a decade experience in biomedical science. She is intimately familiar with the underlying molecular drive of many diseases such as neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, and can provide technical content on the genetic components of many more. Importantly, she can convey this information at a level that is accessible to the general public.
As a scientist Heidi is fascinated by all types of science. If she encounters topics she's not familiar with, she loves diving into the subject and learning something new. She looks forward to writing about your science topic!
As a biomedical scientist Heidi has the technical expertise to provide mechanistic content for biotech and pharmaceutical companies. She would be thrilled to explain to the general public why others should invest in your technology and buy your drug.
Heidi runs her own blog documenting her career journey post-Postdoc and understands the importance sharing stories has for our collective experience. She would be happy to contribute to your blog as well!
Heidi has over a decade of experience putting together quality content presentations to convey complex scientific concepts for research and education purposes. She would be happy to work with you to create a clear presentation for your message.
Heidi has extensive experience writing, assembling, and editing scientific grant proposals. She has personally submitted grant applications to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Department of Defense as well as multiple University specific mechanisms. In addition to navigating the multiple components of these applications, Heidi has the knowledge base to provide specific feedback and content for biomedical research grants from her graduate and postdoctoral experiences.
