He transferred to UW-Madison in 2008 to study film. While not currently utilizing the film aspect of the degree, it taught him the skills and value of critical thinking and analysis.
After a break from school and a short stint in Los Angeles, Alex decided to return to college in hopes of discovering a career path. He quickly took to public relations, and because of credits gained in the past, got his degree in three semesters.
In higher education, Alex has served as a marketing specialist and a social media intern at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
As marketing specialist, he wrote and edited marketing content for university web pages as part of a web design project. This included static copy as well as profiles and stories about students faculty and alumni.
In his role as social media intern, Alex managed the department Facebook page and WordPress blog for the Department of Communications and Journalism. He crafted the Facebook posts and wrote the blog posts.
Alex was a Marketing Communications Specialist for Global Finishing Solutions, a manufacturer of spray paint booths and other finishing equipment. In this role he was in charge of the company's WordPress blog. He developed and wrote content for the blog, and also wrote sponsored online articles, press releases, copy for advertisements, email blasts and internal materials.
In addition to writing online stories about students, faculty and alumni for a university, Alex has ghostwritten technical articles as sponsored content for a manufacturing company.
Alex has managed WordPress blogs for a manufacturing company and an academic department of a university. For each, he came up with the ideas for the posts, interviewed or researched the subject, and did the writing. He has also edited the work of guest bloggers.
As part of a website redesign project, Alex wrote copy for many pages in the following departments: economics, Latin American studies, philosophy and religious studies.
