The New School for Social Research

During her studies, Gina applied foundational sociological theories to educational issues, including race, gender, class, school discipline practices, and the teaching profession. Gina also worked as a graduate student assistant in the Dean's Office, where she supported the school's digital communications and marketing strategies for social media. She conceived of Social Research Matters, a website showcasing work by NSSR faculty and Ph.D. students. She also served on the Sociology Graduate Conference Committee, reviewing submissions, creating marketing materials, and soliciting potential keynotes for the conference.

University of Maryland, College Park

As an undergrad, Gina was accepted into Capital News Service, UMD's student-run news wire service. She was an education beat reporter for the Washington bureau office, and wrote a variety of stories on student health, Maryland's test scores, and the merger talks between the University of Maryland's College Park and Baltimore County institutions.
