After completing a bachelors degree, two master's degrees, and tutoring undergraduate and graduate students in writing, Nicole has a wealth of experience in academic research and writing. Her social work concentration is in Social Enterprise Administration, giving her knowledge of managing nonprofit organizations, including grant writing, as well as statistical and annual reporting. As a former teacher, she is well-versed in lesson planning, curriculum development and writing about current issues and trends in education.
An enthusiastic fan and maker of creative arts Nicole has familiarity with a wide range of arts and crafts. When she's not busy writing her first children's book, or managing her Etsy shops, Nicole enjoys reading nonfiction. She maintains the curiosity she had as a child, so Nicole knows "a little about a lot". She happily shares her knowledge with other inquisitive people as a regular contributor on the Q&A platform Quora.
While earning her bachelors degree in English, with a focus on literary analysis, Nicole tutored peers at the university's Writing Center. After graduating, she went on to pursue a masters degree in Elementary Education, and then taught for several years.
Nicole's degree concentration is in Social Enterprise Administration. In addition to learning about confronting social issues and providing counseling services, she was prepared for work in the development and management of social service organizations.
Nicole has a professional and personal interest in mental health issues. She has written research reports, literature reviews and website articles about eating disorders, substance abuse and depression.
Nicole has been involved in The Arts since she was a child. She enjoys singing and has played the violin, flute, guitar and piano. Nicole has gained experience in a wide range of arts and crafts, some of which include needle felting, sewing, painting, beadwork and crocheting. Nicole spent the past few summers teaching children at a fiber arts camp. She owns two Etsy shops where she sells hand-painted items, and is always in the look out for something new to try.
In addition to assisting clients with their academic research and writing, Nicole has designed multi-media presentations, and written white papers, research papers and literature reviews. She has also authored blog posts about topics related to literacy and urban education.
Nicole currently writes weekly articles for a website dedicated to home design and home improvement. She has also written about topics related to older adults for a website dedicated to aging, and a nonfiction article for a children's magazine.
Nicole has experience writing grant proposals from her social work training and has written two grants to fund workshop series.
Nicole has written newsletter content for publications related to older adults and elementary education.
