Katie graduated from La Salle University in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts. She was on the Deans' Honor List for all semesters, and is a member of numerous honor societies. Katie's recent internship in Australia focused primarily on writing and editing, and helped her realize how much she truly enjoys to write and edit.
During Katie's internship, she wrote and edited many articles relating to Lifestyle Medicine. She was required to proofread for grammatical errors, select pictures that corresponded with the content in the article, and format articles to be posted on the organization's website. Katie's writing included short blog posts, such as a summary of a podcast, and research articles, which were multiple pages. In addition, she reviewed the organization's websites to ensure that they were updated and were visually appealing to readers.
One of the main assignments Katie was frequently given during her internship in Australia was to format, edit, and write blog posts. Sometimes she was required to edit a blog post written by another individual, and then format it onto WordPress. Katie ensured that all elements of the blog post from the font to the picture were consistent with the rest of the organization’s website. She also wrote blog posts, many of which summarized articles or podcasts of news in the health field.
Katie was also required to format, edit, and write articles. She ensured that the content in the articles was grammatically correct, and that the information was updated. Next, Katie formatted the articles onto WordPress. Formatting included selecting pictures to match article content and aligning the content. Katie also wrote articles, in which she was required to research the assigned topic. After Katie completed each article, she edited it. Articles were usually multiple pages long in comparison to blog posts, which were only a few paragraphs.
