Holly K is an experienced traveler, having visited 47 of the 50 states, Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean. She travels despite a disability and being gluten-free by necessity. She has extensive experience finding unique and inventive ways to accommodate her gluten-free requirements and her ambulatory issues while still traveling to locales as disparate as Las Vegas and the wilds of the Yukon.
She is a hand-spinner and weaver, a crazy quilter and a lover of flea markets, antique stores and garage sales. She enjoys re-purposing household items, particularly through crazy quilting, and reselling her projects at the "never ending garage sale" she conducts every summer at her farm in northern Michigan.
She accompanies her husband on fly fishing trips and helps run and maintain his fly shop. She is an experienced kayaker, boater and outdoors-woman. Despite ambulatory disabilities, both Holly and her husband Mike, have managed to maintain their active outdoor lifestyle and have many practical tips to help anyone get out and have fun in the woods and on the water. They are active hunters with both firearms and bows and are experienced at processing their wild game. Their homesteading lifestyle includes heating by woodstove, wild foraging, herbal medicine, raising chickens, gardening and caring for an orchard.
Professionally, Holly is an Oncology Data Manager. She has spent the last 20 years helping to gather statistics on cancer incidence, prevalence and treatment outcomes. She has been involved in writing Commission on Cancer Approved Program Annual Reports showcasing individual and networked facilities' data. She has also been involved in the writing and preparation of various marketing brochures for all aspects of the Oncology market: Breast Centers, Radiation Oncology centers, infusion centers and Physician practices, as well as patient information materials. She has worked in over 45 different hospitals ranging from 30 bed rural clinics to university-owned teaching hospitals. Her expertise in Cancer Registry management has been shared on industry websites and in the presentation of informative talks to her fellow cancer registry and health information management professionals.
