Aldean studied literature and writing at the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He also included a minor in Philosophy.

Raised in the outdoors, Aldean grew up chasing after wildlife and falling into streams whenever he could. He has written about a wide range of outdoor activities, including hunting, camping, birding, bicycling, and more. Aldean brings the combined views of the conservationist and the sportsman into focus in much of his writing and communicates a fundamental enjoyment of, and respect for, nature on its own terms.
Aldean has nearly 30 years' experience in the live presentation of information, and has made the writing and delivery of presentations part of every stage of his career.
Aldean has been blogging in numerous venues for more than a decade, generating a mix of personal narrative, humor, product and media reviews, and even occasional political commentary.
